I usually don't blog about these simple Get Way excursions but this being the 2nd year of Covid Isolation and a brutal 10 winter days; I'm happily sharing my delight. We made this reservation several months ago and i regretted it since. What were we thinking? We made it this far, surely we can go a little longer? We need to stay safe. Nowhere in Florida appears save. We both got our 2nd Pfizer vaccines last week. While i fretted PB busied himself planning The Escape. Announcing if Uber can't get to us he'll walk the 1.5 miles to the airport, dragging his suitcase. No wait, new plan - he'll walk without a suitcase and buy clothes. Or we could meet Uber at the hotel parking lot or .... It was akin to listening someone sing "99 bottles of beer on the wall." His reason  for worry? A windchill expected at 0* and a driveway covered with 5" of snow ontop 1.5" of ice - potential fall waiting to happen. Our flight is 7am; we live 1.5 miles from the airpor...

Butterfly Sanctuary was absolutely breathtaking. There were 100's in the air around us, on the ground, at feeding stations, landing on us. I can't count how many times one brushed my face. We moved slowly and carefully at all times. Limited number of visitors could enter and we were spread apart; but never rushed.

No Need to Wear a Matching Sweatshirt

 Here, my routine is much more complicated than at home. There I either put on my black sweats or my blue sweats. No need to look outside. It's winter. I wear sweats. Here, I meander out to the porch where Philip has coffee waiting. I squint towards the Atlantic - fog, mist, rain, clouds, sun? Depending on what I see I have my choice of 3 outfits in the suitcase. It's all mix and match so the 3 outfits morph into endless possibilities before my 2nd sip of coffee. I still have the NYT crossword/vertex to contemplate. Its daunting. Yesterday it rained, not showers but serious coming at you sideways rain. Phil made a run to the grocery store - I wanted ice cream. Otherwise we drifted from porch to living room to bedroom. The temperature stays between 72*-85*. This morning was overcast while we walked Smathers Beach. The past several weeks PB's hummed, whistled or sang "My Blue Heaven."
